Seeing through darkness

One sunny Saturday afternoon in Sydney, Jen, Blanca and Bri decided to go to the Art Gallery of NSW to see the Archibald Prize finalists.

My absolute favourites:

Vincent Fantauzzo

Brandon

Jen and I were mesmorised. We couldn't believe that this was actually a painting and not a photograph. It was all about the eyes, so full of emotion, gorgeous big brown eyes. My favourite piece out of them all.

Guy Maestri

Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu

Gurrumul! There is no doubt why this portrait won. I think I'm drawn to this painting because I know the story behind it. I love that you cannot see his eyes, portraying his blindness. Complete contrast to my favourite piece.

How?

How can you focus on study if your mind is exploring different countries
... thinking about different cultures
........calculating budgets
.............brainstorming dates

?

How can you make the most of now when you're trapped in the future
... planning what to do
........ adding to the to-do list
............... seeing if it will all fit

?

How can you let the trapped nomad out when you are tied down to the present
... signed to corporate world
........ stuck in classes learning about best practices
............... looking forward to drinks

Pause on Life

So much is happening around me, so many thoughts and yet I can't bring myself to focus on the one thing that I need closure on.

The Heat. Impossible to think; to function; to be comfortable.

Work. So much to do, not enough people nor time. Will I be back in February?

Indifference. What once was love.

Uni. Final year; cannot wait until March. Normality. Friends. Sanity.

Lust. Something I haven't felt for a long time. Exciting.

Japan. Less than 48 hours; Winter; my birthday. Peace of mind.

ACS. IWD Breakfast almost organised. New challenge.

AIESEC. Re-connecting with those I drifted from or never quite got to know. Possibilities.

So many thoughts distracted me from another year going by, until today. Finally realised it's my birthday next week, tres exciting. Happy Birthday Me.

Note to self: look after Bri a bit more.

happy

Monday afternoon I was walking home from the Museum. Going past St. Paul's I noticed some graffiti on the pavement. Instant smile. The same one had been in Yarra Park and I pass it every morning on my way to the station.

Pictures of You

This is the clock up on the wall
This is the story of us all
This is the first sound of a new born child before he starts to crawl

This is the war that's never won
This is the soldier and his gun
This is the mother waiting by the phone praying for her son

(chorus)
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see

Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be

Woooah

There is a drug that cures it all
Blocked by the governmental wall
We are the scientists inside the lab just waiting for the call

This earthquake weather has got me shaking
Inside i'm high up and dry

(chorus)
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see

Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be

Confess to me
Every secret moment
Every stolen promise you've believed

Confess to me
All that lies between us
All that lies between you and me

We are the boxers in the ring
We are the bells that never sing
There is a title we cant win no matter how hard we must swing

(chorus)
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see

Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we could have been

(chorus)
Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Hung up on your wall for the world to see

Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we could have been
What could have been
We could have been

Pictures of you
Pictures of me
Remind us all of what we could have been
What could have been

Easily Amused

Entertaining myself, I stumbled across Calvin & Hobbes and started going through the comics. I just came across this one and thought it was really cute and then the last part was funny.

And it is true; it's hard to be a mum for a mum.
