Oh, the randomness ...

Heeeeeeee

I'm in an extremely weird mood because I ate most of my triple chocolate ice cream (2L) and haven't had much else since lunch. Hmm, I think that's a sign that I should cook some proper dinner, but I just can't be f---ed. I could also go and get some of the cookies. Even that requires effort, and again, cbf.

Tangent:

I've become strangely fasinated by the show Seconds From Disaster on National Geographic. It is morbidly fascinating and I can never flip past it when I am surfing the channels for something to watch. Currently, its a doco about an explosion in a business building in Puerto Rico. I'm sad the shop owner at the bottom of the building was killed :( They're currenlty trying to work it out and think it was a gas explosion from the city's supply, because they have already ruled out arsen and a bomb attack. Apparently its methane or propane, so their investigating.

I think its really interesting how really simple things can explain to the investigators what happened. A steel beam survived the explosion, except something has make it stretch as if something haspushed it upwards. So, their believe it was propane which caused the blast (because it is heavier than air and sinks to the ground). This leads them to find that the area and streets around the building were covered in propane. The investigation found that there were extra pipes below the ground which weren't being used, the gas companies maps weren't helpful because the unmarked pipe was never transferred to their original maps.

Sooooo, after all this, there is a pipe being linked to a chicken takeaway store (24 metres away), hence the propane gas. This pipe split because of watermain repairs which put pressure on the pipe. This allowed the leaking propane to move around underground and therefore move towards the office building and become trapped in its basement. Hence, the explosion .... for some reason.

It goes back to the gas company not finding the gas because their test holes weren't deep enough, the maps not being up-to-date and the gas sniffer machine wasn't working incorrectly. Bad gas company!

The actual ignition was because of a spark from the thermostat in the basement, where an airconditioning repairman was.

Thirty-three people were killed in the blast.

See, I find it interesting. Soooo, I'm going to leave it there because I should really eat something nutritious, hang out my washing and put out the bins. Can't wait for the 'rents to be back for that stuff to be "automatically" done. Heee

Peace out.

Nearly party time!

Three down!!!

The first week of exams is over and I only have one exam left next week! Yay! :D

That was all I wanted to post for now ...

Peace out
